Chamonix is most famous for winter sports, but if skiing, snowboarding and skating are not your scene, a summer of climbing, mountain biking and paragliding in mediterranean weather might be tempting. If you prefer, a more relaxed holiday can be enjoyed sightseeing on the Mont Blanc tramway, the Montenvers railway, a choice of cable cars or stay in Chamonix town with a fine selection of bars and restaurants, cinema, and a wide range of shops. Annecy is also only 1 hour away by car.
